Mattress Related Back Pain?

Every morning, I wake up with a horribly aching back, and I know it’s because of the cheap, hard as a brick mattress that came with my apartment. I don’t have the money to buy a new mattress, and I already have an egg crate pad and a mattress pad on there. I’ve tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs, but that doesn’t help, either. Is there anything else that I can do?

Have you tried sleeping on the floor? This is very good for the back. Also be sure to flip your mattress. You can also try looking in the paper for a used mattress for sale cheap or try you local St Vincent De Paul store.
Try looking at craigslist.com to see if anyone in your area has a mattress for sale cheap or to give away.
When My back was hurting I put a board in between my mattress and the box spring to firm it up and that worked for me.
But, if yours is a problem of it being too hard ….
What about the NASA foam mattress toppers? They are cheaper than a new mattress (Walmart $47.00- $150.00) and they cradle your body. (kinda comform to your shape)
I know you will think this is crazy, but even though your mattress is very hard, it might still be a broken box spring causing the problem. Try the plywood board between the matress and box spring. Do not spend money on the thin foam things….I did and it didn’t help at all! You could also put folded newspapers between the first covering thing over your mattress and the mattress protector. That would cushion and not be noisey because it is under several layers.
Have you tried calling your landlord to see if he might be able to provide a softer mattress? It’s sure worth a try and many would try to help you.
Good luck!
