Verticle A/c Unit Installation Question.?
My window is at LEAST 42″ tall if not over 48″. These units are 20 – 25″ tall. Horizontal units (normal units) have accordian style flaps that extend to account for the width of the window.
The vertical A/C units do not have an extending “flap” to cover the remainder of the window that is exposes the room to the elements.
I realize that buying a mattress “egg crate” foam pad and cutting it up could solve my problem, but this window faces the street. A big yellow mess in the window would look GREAT!

if you cannot bring your window down to meat the A/C you should consider using wood. It can be painted to the color of the window and will add a little more security. Your local hardware store can cut the right size for you no probs. For best results cut two pieces to overlap the frame and screw them together like a clamp. this will stop you from having to drill into the frame of the window. good luck
